Knoebels dates back to 1926, when on July 4th, the park officially opened. The park featured a large pool, a restaurant, and a steam powered carousel. Over time, the park added a campsite, the pioneer train, a new grand carousel, and many other attractions. In 1972, Hurricane Agnes struck the park, flooding the park and damaging multiple rides, but the park resumed operations 9 days later. After this event, the park opened the Haunted Mansion, which was mainly built and designed by park employees. The track was bought new, with ten ride cars being bought from Pretzel Dark Rides, with the other five from Rolling Green Park in Pennsylvania being bought and rebuilt.
